Search engine and AI visibility optimisation for WordPress, built for speed: nothing added to your visitors' pages, and a guided setup.

== Description ==

Zinn® SEO is search engine and AI visibility optimisation for WordPress, built by an SEO professional with more than 25 years of experience for sites of every size, from a one-page business site to a million posts.

It starts from one promise: your visitors' pages stay exactly as fast as they were. Zinn® SEO adds no script and no stylesheet to the front end, never writes a comment or a generator tag into your page source, and keeps its site-wide settings in one small option. Every release is measured on a real WordPress before it ships.

= Guided setup =

* Recognises your kind of site, other SEO plugins, translation plugins (Tranzly, WPML, Polylang, TranslatePress, Weglot) and WooCommerce, and asks only what it cannot work out.
* Every step can be skipped, the setup carries on where you stopped, and any step can be run again later.
* Warns you when the site is asking search engines not to index it, and fixes it with one switch.

= Built for speed and for big sites =

* Nothing added to your visitors' pages, and no admin script on any screen except its own.
* SEO data is stored with each post and term and read in one query per page. There is no second index table to rebuild or to go out of date.
* Long jobs run in short steps that save their place, so a time limit or a crash never loses progress. When there is no work, there is no scheduled task.
* Runs on PHP 7.4 to 8.5 and WordPress 6.4 and newer.

= For teams, agencies and developers =

* SEO Manager and SEO Editor roles, so colleagues can look after SEO without being administrators. With Pro, give any role exactly the SEO permissions it needs.
* Copy your settings to another site: export them to a file, import it elsewhere, and see every change before it is applied. Nothing secret is in the file.
* Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) on the Zinn® SEO screen jumps to any setting or screen, or finds a post or page and edits its SEO title, description, robots and canonical address.
* Every setting and every page's SEO fields through the REST API (`/wp-json/zinn-seo/v1`) and WP-CLI (`wp zinn-seo`).
* Documented actions and filters, and `zinn_seo()` for themes and other plugins.

= No-trace mode =

Hide that the site uses an SEO plugin: no plugin names in addresses, no stylesheet on the sitemap, neutral ids in structured data. Switching it on or off first lists every address that would change.

= Your data =

Deleting the plugin removes every setting, field, table and role it created, unless you choose to keep your data.

== External services ==

**Licensing (Freemius).** The plugin includes the Freemius SDK for the optional Pro edition and product updates. Nothing is sent until you opt in on the screen shown after activation, or start a Pro trial or activate a licence. When you do, the SDK sends your site's URL, WordPress, PHP and plugin versions, language, and the administrator's name and email address to Freemius, and checks it periodically for licence status and updates. Before connecting it checks that the service is reachable by requesting `https://api.freemius.com/v1/ping.json`, which sends nothing about your site. You can opt out at any time from the plugin's Account page. [Terms](https://freemius.com/terms/), [privacy](https://freemius.com/privacy/).

**Help and support from Zinn Digital® (off until you use it).** The plugin's Get help screen can send a support request to Zinn Digital®, the plugin's developer. Nothing is sent until you connect the site or send a request yourself.

* Connecting the site (Get help → Connect) calls `https://api.zinndigital.com/v1/plugin-support/connections` with the email address and name you type, the plugin's name and version, this site's address and title, the WordPress and PHP versions and your language. The answer is a connection token, stored encrypted in your database. The screen checks it with `/v1/plugin-support/connection`; Disconnect deletes it there and here.
* Sending a request calls `https://api.zinndigital.com/v1/plugin-support/tickets` with what you type (subject, message, your name), the plugin's name, your language, and your licence's plan and ids. Only if you tick "Include site details" does it add the site details the screen shows you before sending (site address, WordPress, PHP, theme and plugin versions, a few server settings and the last lines of the PHP error log).

== Installation ==

1. In WordPress open Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the `zinn-seo.zip` file and press Install Now, then Activate.
2. Open **SEO** in the admin menu. The guided setup starts on its own.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Does it slow my site down? =

No. It adds no script, no stylesheet and no comment to your visitors' pages, and loads one small setting per page. Its admin app loads only on its own screen.

= Can I run it beside another SEO plugin? =

Two SEO plugins on one site both print titles, descriptions and structured data, which confuses search engines. The setup tells you which other SEO plugin is active; keep it until its data has been brought into Zinn® SEO, then switch it off.

= Who can change the SEO settings? =

Administrators, and anyone you give the SEO Manager role. The SEO Editor role edits the SEO fields of pages only. With Pro you can give any role any SEO permission.

= What happens to my data if I delete the plugin? =

Everything it created is removed, unless you tick "Keep my SEO data if the plugin is deleted" under Settings → Data first.

== Changelog ==
